About Blackwell Parish

Information about councillors and committees.

All the councillors for Blackwell Parish work for all Blackwell Parish residents regardless of the ward they represent, so please feel free to contact any Councillor regarding council business. However, the specific wards for each Councillor are listed below:

Blackwell- Cllrs Newham, Gascoyne and Peters
Hilcote- Cllr Lee and Cllr Reynolds
Newton- Cllrs Renshaw, Burrows, Hart, Stocks and a vacancy
Westhouses- Cllrs Hough and Poulter

Committees

As well as the monthly Parish Council meetings (see the home page for dates and locations), the Councillors also form committees.

The committees are:

Finance and HR have the overall responsibility for the management of the Council’s financial affairs in accordance with the legislative requirements, regulations and guidelines. For more information, please read the Terms of Reference here.

Parish Facilities Committee have the overall responsbility for the management of the Council’s buildings. For more information, please read the Terms of Reference here.

Park Floral Events Committee have responsibility for the management of the Council’s parks and recreation grounds. In addition, they have responsibility for the management of the hanging baskets and floral displays, and events taking place within the parish, for example, Christmas lights. In addition, a Biodiversity Working Party looks for opportunities to improve the biodiversity of Blackwell Parish Council buildings and land.

As Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer, Kate’s overall responsibility is to carry out the policy decisions of the council. She ensures that the business of the council runs smoothly and efficiently, and is conducted in accordance with the law; the council’s financial transaction are properly recorded and authorised; and manages staff members.
